The honest conformance report.
A buyer asked for your VPAT. If you already have one, find out what a procurement reviewer will send it back for. If you do not, find out what your first one has to contain. Both take a few minutes, both are free, and neither one keeps your file.

This is the whole idea.
A reviewer opens your report and reads one row at a time. The level says the criterion is supported; the remark beside it describes something that is not. They cannot tell which half is true, so they stop and ask, and your deal waits a week.
That is the kind of thing the check finds, and it tells you in the same plain terms: what is in the document, why a reviewer cares, and what to change.

Blocking
The level says Supports. The remark describes text that does not.
A conformance level that disagrees with its own remark is the defect reviewers trust least, because it suggests the levels were set independently of the findings.
What the check reads
These are the things procurement reviewers actually send reports back for. The list is here so you can decide whether it is worth your document before you hand it over.
- Whether the template version is named, and whether it is the current one
- Whether "Evaluation Methods Used" says how the product was actually evaluated
- Whether the product, its version and the report date are stated
- Whether there is a Level AA table at all
- Criteria marked "Partially Supports" or "Does Not Support" with no explanation
- An unbroken column of "Supports" with no remarks anywhere
- A conformance level that contradicts its own remark
- Scope limited to WCAG 2.0 where your buyer expects 2.1 or 2.2
- Template instructions and placeholder text left in the document
- Absolute claims a self-evaluation cannot support, and overlay references
Each finding says what is in the document, why a reviewer cares, and what to change. It never says whether you are compliant, because a document cannot tell anyone that.
What it is not
In the same size type as everything else, because a limit set in small print is a limit you were hoping would not be read.
- It is not an audit
- Nothing here tests your product. It reads your document, and a flawless document can describe software that fails every criterion in it.
- It is not a certification
- No one can certify you against WCAG. Anybody selling you that is selling you something else.
- It is not legal advice
- It tells you what is in your report and what a reviewer will ask about. It never tells you whether you are compliant.
- A PDF gets fewer of these checks
- Four of the ten above read your criteria table row by row, and a PDF records where text sits on a page rather than which cell it was in. Rebuilding that link would be a guess this report will not make, so on a PDF those four stay silent and say so. Upload the Word (.docx) the report was written in and all ten run.
- Your file is not kept
- The document is read, the report is produced, and the file is discarded. We keep its name, size and page count, and nothing of its contents.
